Today is a historic day for the Institute, as the Community Center’s first rural empowerment project in Cameroon officially launched! The Sacred Link Jewelry vocational training and internship held its inaugural class, much to everyone’s delight.

Seven local students (shown below) have been accepted into the Sacred Link Jewelry program. These students were carefully selected from hundreds of applicants to form the nucleus of the program. Over the next 3 months they will receive intensive training and hands-on experience in the complete art of Sacred Link Jewelry. Based on a “train the trainer” model, our approach is to offer these students as much one-on-one contact with HI faculty as possible, so they are fully prepared to remain with the Community Center as trainers or start their own micro-enterprise upon graduation.
