Spring marks the time of year when we set aside a moment for cleaning our homes, improving our surroundings, and renewing our environments. Last Saturday, a team of Himalayan Institute residents did their part during the annual adopt-a-highway clean up along a 2-mile stretch of highway outside of HI headquarters in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
From these two miles of roadside, the team collected 32 bags of garbage, 7 tires and mounds of home construction waste.
Adopting a portion of highway is a great way for organizations like the Himalayan Institute to give back to our local community, and has proved a fun way to get outside and enjoy working together. We encourage you to find out if your place of work, school or faith community has a stretch of highway it takes care of. And if not… organize a work party!
